A secret video recording device was discovered in the women's showers aboard the HMAS Leeuwin while the ship was docked in Cairns on Sunday, with a source alleging the footage was shared online before the device was found. Tasmanian Senator Jacqui Lambie exposed the incident in the federal Senate on Wednesday after receiving an email from a former navy member. The Australian Defence Force has confirmed it is aware of the matter and has referred it to authorities. Lambie is now demanding navy inspect every vessel for additional hidden devices.

Lambie warned ADF members fear more cameras may be concealed in private areas across ships, submarines and other vessels.

'How many of our female sailors have been recorded in their most private moments?' Lambie asked the Senate, accusing Defence of attempting a cover-up.
