Banned drink and drug driver jailed after his wife died of pneumonia three years after he crashed into a tree

Sylwia Borychowska finished her healthcare degree and graduated despite catastrophic internal injuries, but surgeons had removed a large section of her bowel, leaving her vulnerable to infection, and she died of pneumonia at her family home in Peterborough in October 2022, aged 25. A post-mortem confirmed the 2019 crash ultimately killed her.
Both Haseeb Ahmed, 34, and his wife Sylwia Borychowska were pulled from the car before it caught fire.
Nottinghamshire Police investigator Sarah Butler said Haseeb Ahmed's driving caused 'unimaginable pain and devastation'.
Haseeb Ahmed also receives a three-year-and-eight-month driving ban and must pass an extended test to regain his licence.
