Neil Henderson, who played guitar on the Bay City Rollers' debut chart single 'Keep on Dancing' before joining number one hitmakers Middle of the Road, has died at the age of 73. His daughter Shona said he left the Rollers after their second single because he was unhappy with the band's musical direction, departing just before Rollermania swept the world.

Middle of the Road called Henderson 'our original lead guitarist, songwriter and friend' and sent condolences to his daughters Heather and Shona.

After his wife's death, Henderson set up a recording studio at his west of Scotland home — his daughter said he knew he could finally 'get away with it'.
