Bayern Munich boss Vincent Kompany will be sidelined 'for weeks' after collapsing at training, sporting director Max Eberl reveals
Kompany, 40, remains stable in hospital and will stay there for several more days while doctors run tests to find the cause. The Belgian had been battling a viral infection and missed training sessions in recent days. He collapsed on Friday while overseeing Bayern's reserve side. Eberl said the club must protect him 'even from himself' and refused to set a return date.
'We're not talking about days, but weeks,' Eberl told reporters in Munich.
Assistant Aaron Danks will take charge for Sunday's Bundesliga trip to Freiburg.
Danks said his call with Kompany was strictly about his health, with no football talk.
