Bayern Munich manager Vincent Kompany is taken to hospital after collapsing at training, days after battling a viral infection
A rescue helicopter landed at Bayern's Sabener Strasse base on Friday after the 40-year-old Belgian collapsed while watching reserve-team training. He was then taken by ambulance to a Munich hospital for thorough examinations. Kompany had been dealing with a viral infection in his legs and had only recently returned to the training ground. His coaching staff will now handle training sessions and matches until further notice.
Bayern sporting director Max Eberl said: 'Vincent Kompany's health is our highest priority.'
Kompany was reportedly having trouble climbing stairs because of problems with old scar tissue.
The infection had cast doubt over Wednesday's Champions League clash with Arsenal, but he still made the dugout.
