BBC admits vetting failure over Sunday show guest who called Jews 'lying scumbags' and praised October 7

Bushra Shaikh, an influencer hosted on a BBC Sunday programme, had previously posted that Jews who move to Israel are 'lying scumbags' who should 'go back to f***ing Europe', and had celebrated October 7 as Israel's 'humiliation'. The BBC has now admitted its vetting process failed to catch her history of inflammatory posts before she appeared on air.

The BBC issued no on-air correction at the time; the failure only emerged after scrutiny of Shaikh's past posts.

Critics say the scandal exposes systemic bias in how the BBC selects guests to speak on the Middle East conflict.
