BBC axes DIY SOS after 27 years to cut costs, leaving host Nick Knowles 'devastated' by 'slap in the face'

Nick Knowles and his DIY SOS crew have been left devastated after the BBC shelved the 27-year-old renovation show as part of its £500million savings drive. The broadcaster will replace it with a cheaper spin-off, 'DIY SOS Rebuilt My Life', revisiting past transformations, with the original show reportedly now permanently gone. There will be no Big Build for Children in Need this year either.

The axing has reportedly been called 'a disgusting outrage' for a show that helps 'the neediest people in our country'.

Thousands of tradespeople who volunteer their time and materials for free are also reportedly furious at the decision.

The 'rest' is reportedly permanent, with the spin-off unlikely to restore the full show before 2028 at the earliest.
