'Never, ever again': BBC Breakfast digs up Andy Burnham's salsa to Livin' La Vida Loca after his Gogglebox confession
Andy Burnham, whose salsa routine was filmed at a charity ball in aid of motor neurone disease charities in honour of Rob Burrow, has refused to apologise to critics over the appearance.
The routine dates from April 2024, when Burnham, then Greater Manchester Mayor, danced with professional Cara Tighe at the Burrow Strictly Ball at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool. The prime minister filmed his Gogglebox debut from No 10 with Liverpool City Region mayor Steve Rotheram, a pint and crisps in hand. Political opponents attacked the stint. He told Radio 5 Live he refused to apologise for 'trying to lead with a bit of levity'.
The ball raised money for MND, which killed rugby league star Rob Burrow in 2024.
Burnham insisted on the radio: 'I'm trying to give the country a lift.'
His pick if he ever does Strictly is 'Sit Down' by James, 'a Manchester icon'.
