BBC is accused of giving a Green activist 'free rein' to attack a Jewish journalist on its political discussion programme

Professor Ashok Kumar of Birkbeck cut Rachel Cunliffe off mid-sentence as she protested: 'I am a Jewish woman being called an antisemite by somebody who…' The clash came in a debate on the Greens' new 'Zionism is racism' motion. Kumar later gloated on X that host Alex Forsyth and the panel 'looked like they were about to cry at the end'. Alex Hearn of Labour Against Antisemitism called the booking 'staggering'.

Baroness Chakrabarti was heard on air calling Kumar's comments 'appalling'.

On October 7, 2023, Kumar posted that partying at the Nova festival 'has consequences'.

Kumar later said Zionism belongs in 'the ugly dustbin of history' alongside apartheid.
