BBC launches links and feeds service offering syndicated content to partner sites as editorial rules tighten

BBC editorial guidelines state that every link published on its public service websites must have an editorial rationale, with audiences entitled to confidence that decisions are free from political, commercial or personal influence. The rules apply to both outbound links and third-party feeds pulled onto BBC pages, with feeds held to an especially high standard. Producers must review an external site's content before any link is added, and links must never be granted in return for money, services or any other form of payment in kind.

Where a subject is contested, external links should collectively reflect a fair spread of perspectives on that subject.
