BBC Scotland boss warns more cuts are coming after admitting axing the channel will save LESS than £2m

Hayley Valentine told Martin Geissler on BBC Scotland's Scotcast programme that the channel closure is 'not the end of it' for staff at Pacific Quay in Glasgow. She conceded the saving is no 'silver bullet' and said further programmes may go. More than 60 jobs were cut in August, and around 10 more will go with the channel. She insists 90 per cent of its content will survive on iPlayer, BBC One and BBC Two.

The nightly News at Seven will be axed when the channel goes online-only next spring.

Culture Secretary Màiri McAllan called the plan 'wholly unacceptable' and will take her concerns to Ofcom.

The £32million channel's launch-night show The Nine drew fewer than 46,000 viewers.
