BBC Three is to be scrapped AGAIN just four years after returning to TV in a drive to save £500m

BBC Three, BBC Scotland and Radio 4 Extra will all stop broadcasting in spring 2027 and move online to iPlayer and Sounds. BBC Three first went online in 2016 before being revived as a TV channel in January 2022. Director-general Matt Brittin said the BBC must 'make every pound work harder'. Around 100 jobs will go at BBC News.

Only about £200m has reportedly been cut so far, with more cuts expected.

Scottish Culture Secretary Mairi McAllan called the move 'wholly unacceptable' and will take it to Ofcom.

BBC Three's hits, including Fleabag, Killing Eve and Gavin & Stacey, will move to iPlayer.
