John Stamos has revealed that Beach Boys frontman Mike Love is battling serious health challenges but is defying doctors, family and friends to keep performing live. Love sat in a chair throughout the band's first concert in three months in Cincinnati on Saturday, looking alarmingly frail. Stamos, 63, posted the warning on Instagram before flying to Nashville to join Love on stage at the Ryman Auditorium.

Stamos wrote: 'We hope he'll be doing what he loves for years to come, but we don't know what the future holds. We have tonight.'

Love has previously said he would 'never stop touring' — the Cincinnati show was the band's first public performance in three months.

Stamos, who has performed with Love for 41 years, said seeing him this way was like watching 'someone larger than life face something so human and fragile.'
