Big Brother's Omar sparks more than 7,000 Ofcom complaints over 'controlling' treatment of Rhianna as viewers demand 'get him out'
Rhianna Collins, whose split attempt prompted Omar El Mayer to tell her "you've really f***ed me off by saying what you said," sparking a record 7,138 Ofcom complaints.
The incident has become the third most complained-about in Big Brother history, surpassed only by Jade Goody's racism controversy and Roxanne Pallett's punch scandal. Omar El Mayer told Rhianna Collins 'don't look away from me' after she said she thought the two of them were better suited as friends. Ofcom says it is assessing the 7,138 complaints. Big Brother has since issued Omar with a formal warning.
Women's Aid warned the show 'risks presenting abuse as a form of entertainment'.
ITV insists housemates get 'respect and inclusion training' and are monitored around the clock.
Omar faces no eviction this week, after being made safe from Friday's public vote.
