Graham Worthington, 56, has walked free from Chester Crown Court with a nine-month suspended sentence after his motorcycle toppled into the path of an oncoming van and killed his pillion passenger, lollipop lady Nicola Connolly, 54. Worthington, from Runcorn, had been overtaking slow-moving traffic on Northwich Road in Dutton, Cheshire, in September 2023 when the bike lost its balance and fell to the offside while he was partly over in the oncoming carriageway.

Disqualified from driving for two years, Worthington was sentenced for causing death by careless and inconsiderate driving.

'Cherished by the children she cared for,' said Detective Sergeant Russell Sime of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit.

'No sentence will bring her back,' Sime said, hoping the proceedings bring her loved ones closure.
