Bill Maher devoted most of his Friday 'Real Time' opening monologue to rebutting Trump's lengthy Truth Social post point by point, printed pages in hand. Maher denied inviting himself to the White House, played video clips showing he had publicly supported the US strikes on Iran, and insisted Trump is the one who initiates their phone contact.
Maher compared dining with Trump to dating Taylor Swift: 'a lot of laughs at the time, but later on they're tearing you a new a**hole.'
Trump's post, described as the longest Truth Social rant ever, followed Maher hosting White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt on his show on 23 October.
Maher conceded two of Trump's charges — calling himself 'a complete and total loser' and confirming he is 'a major pothead', quipping: 'I guess the cat's out of the bag.'
