Birmingham duo is jailed for abducting and sexually assaulting runaway girl, 11, who trusted them to help her

Hamza Sharif, 36, and Sadak Ali, 28, were jailed at Birmingham Crown Court after abducting an 11-year-old who had run away from home, believing Sharif would help her. Ali asked the child "highly invasive and sexualised questions" then sexually assaulted her, before the pair tried to move her to another address the following day. A member of the public intervened and extracted the girl from the duo.

The girl told the court in her victim impact statement: 'I still have nightmares and flashbacks — what they did has changed my life forever.'

Judge Roderick Henderson called it an "extremely serious" crime, saying the pair had "isolated a vulnerable child for a significant amount of time."

Sharif was a stranger to the girl when he approached her on the street; the two men then attempted to get her to take drugs, an offer she turned down, before the assault took place.
