Blake Shelton reveals he told John Anderson he loved him days before the 'Seminole Wind' country star died at 71

'I don't even know why,' Blake Shelton wrote of the Sunday meeting where he told his hero he loved him. Anderson died peacefully in his sleep at his Smithville, Tennessee home on Wednesday, with no cause yet given. Only three days earlier he had attended the Country Music Hall of Fame induction ceremony. Shelton recorded three duets with him, including 'The Last Country Song'.

Tim McGraw sang Anderson's songs with him at Sunday's ceremony: 'I am completely shook.'

Gwen Stefani thanked Shelton for introducing their family to 'such a Legend'.

Before his fame, Anderson helped put the roof on the new Grand Ole Opry House.
