Blindfolded wife locked herself in bathroom after discovering ex-Tory councillor husband had brought a stranger into their bedroom, court hears
Philip Young with his wife Joanne Young (right). Young, a former Conservative borough councillor from Swindon, secretly drugged Joanne over 13 years so strangers could rape her while she lay blindfolded and restrained.
Joanne Young, 49, a mother of three from Swindon, told Winchester Crown Court that her ex-husband Philip Young, 50, had spent 13 years drugging her with spiked bedtime drinks and arranging for strangers to sexually assault her. Philip Young has pleaded guilty to almost 50 sex offences. Four men he allegedly recruited to abuse her are now on trial. Video police interviews of Joanne, who chose to give up her anonymity, were played to the jury on Wednesday.
Philip Young, a former Conservative councillor for Swindon, 'advertised' his wife on Craigslist and swinging sites — posting photos of her 'inanimate and tied to the bed'.
Prosecutors say his 'fantasy' was to watch men he had 'plucked from the internet' abuse her while he 'relished their degradation of her'.
On discovering the stranger, Joanne told police: 'It was so intrusive — something he knew I would never, ever accept or want.'
