Blindfolded wife locked herself in the bathroom after her ex-Tory councillor husband secretly brought a stranger into their bedroom, court hears
Philip Young with his wife Joanne Young (right). Young, a former Conservative borough councillor from Swindon, secretly drugged Joanne over 13 years so strangers could rape her while she lay blindfolded and restrained.
Joanne Young, 49, who has waived her anonymity, told Winchester Crown Court in a recorded police interview how she felt a stranger's hand on her wrist while blindfolded and restrained, before her husband Philip Young ordered the man to hide. Young, 50, a former Conservative councillor for Swindon, has already pleaded guilty to nearly 50 sex offences against his wife across a 13-year period. Four men are now on trial accused of attending the family home and abusing her.
Philip Young drugged his wife using sedative-laced nightcaps, then filmed men he recruited from Craigslist, Grindr and swinging websites abusing her.
One defendant, Connor Sanderson-Doyle, 32, was captured on video wearing a balaclava; footage allegedly shows Mrs Young saying 'No... let go...' while he assaulted her.
Young's 'fantasy', prosecutors say, was to watch strangers 'plucked from the internet' abuse his wife while he 'relished their degradation of her'.
