Blue Lights creators quit the hit BBC police drama as the corporation is 'taking a beat' over the show's future

Declan Lawn and Adam Patterson, the co-creators of BBC One's Northern Irish crime drama 'Blue Lights', have confirmed they are stepping down after four series to work on a new BBC project called 'D-Notice'. The BBC says it is "taking a beat" with producers over the show's future, leaving fans fearing cancellation.
The final episode of series four aired on 3 November and saw the Belfast police station close and characters go their separate ways — fuelling cancellation fears.
Lawn's emotional Instagram farewell, quoting a character's line about change, was widely read as a goodbye, with cast members also sharing ominous messages about their futures.
Co-creators Stephen Wright and Louise Gallagher remain attached to the production and could potentially continue the show without Lawn and Patterson.
