Protesters outside the Board of Deputies headquarters in London on 7 October, whose executive now backs a motion to declare the Green Party racist over its 'Zionism is racism' policy.

The motion has the backing of the Board's Executive and was tabled by deputies Max Royston and Ashley Hirst. Royston called the Greens' policy 'racism by show of hands' and said every party and council would have to pick a side. Green members passed the motion on October 4 by 1,022 votes to 813. It has drawn cross-party condemnation and the threat of legal action under the Equality Act.

Green activist Niloufar 'Nilly' Brook, who praised the Ayatollah, helped pass the motion.

Party official Hamza Egal says Zack Polanski's leadership 'owes members an apology'.

Broadland's four Green councillors must condemn the motion by Friday or Labour quits the coalition.
