Board of Deputies votes 118-1 to brand 'the Green Party' a 'racist party' over its 'Zionism is racism' policy

British Jewry's main representative body will now treat the Greens the same way it once treated the National Front. President Phil Rosenberg said no party has the right to tell Jews that a central part of their identity is racist. He said the policy gives prejudice against Jews 'a political licence'. The motion also calls on other parties to shun alliances with the Greens.
The motion says the Greens' one-state call means 'the erasure of the State of Israel'.
Proposer Ashley Hirst said: 'The time for asking nicely has passed.'
Deputy Denise Lester called the policy 'antisemitism pure and simple'.
