Board of Deputies votes 118 to one to brand 'the Green Party' 'racist' over its 'Zionism is racism' policy

Britain's main Jewish body is urging every other party to refuse coalition deals with the Greens unless local leaders reject the policy. Labour has already told the Green groups it governs with to disown the motion or lose its support. President Phil Rosenberg said the policy "gives prejudice against Jews a political licence". The Green Party maintains it does not discriminate against Zionists.
Green conference delegates backed the motion with 56% support earlier this month.
Proposer Ashley Hirst said the Greens had 'crossed a Rubicon' on Jewish identity.
The Board last branded a party racist when it fought the National Front in the 1970s.
