Protesters outside the Board of Deputies headquarters in London on 7 October, whose executive now backs a motion to declare the Green Party racist over its 'Zionism is racism' policy.

Deputies Max Royston and Ashley Hirst put the motion forward, and it now has the backing of the Board's Executive. Royston called the Greens' policy 'racism by show of hands'. Green members passed it on October 4 by 1,022 votes to 813, giving it official party status. The policy has drawn condemnation from across the political spectrum and prompted warnings that legal action may follow under the Equality Act.

Green leader Zack Polanski has said the motion is one he would have opposed had he been able to vote.

Party official Hamza Egal says the leadership 'owes members an apology' for branding them entryists.

A speaker at a members' session told Greens 'international law protects armed resistance'.
