Jim Wither, of Johnstone in Renfrewshire, went overboard from CalMac's MV Caledonian Isles near Arran at about 8.30pm on Sunday 18 October. Police Scotland was notified on Sunday that a man's body had been discovered on the beach at Largs, North Ayrshire. His family has been told, though a formal identification is still to be carried out. Officers are not treating the death as suspicious.

Two helicopters, a coastguard aircraft and RNLI lifeboats searched before it was called off.

The ferry was sailing from Ardrossan to Arran when he fell during Storm Boelo.

A report on the death will be passed to the procurator fiscal in due course.
