Police Scotland have told the family of Jim Wither, 82, of Johnstone in Renfrewshire, that a man's body was discovered on Sunday, with formal identification still to be completed. He fell from the MV Caledonian Isles near Arran at around 8.30pm on 18 October. Officers say the death is not being treated as suspicious, and the procurator fiscal will receive a report.

CCTV captured him heading toward Beith Road at 12.18pm on the day he disappeared.

Two helicopters, a coastguard plane and RNLI lifeboats searched off Arran without success.

The search was called off the next day, almost a week before the discovery.
