Officers entered a property on Sawyers Grove, Brentwood, at 7.20am on Friday following reports of a damaged door during a neighbour dispute, and a man and a woman were taken into custody. Explosive Ordnance Disposal experts are examining several small items recovered during a search of the address, with a 100-metre cordon blocking much of the street.

Displaced residents have been directed to King George's Playing Fields Pavilion for the duration of the cordon.

The street lies metres from St Thomas of Canterbury Church of England Primary School, though the half-term holiday meant no children were on site.
