Kristin Scott Thomas calls Slow Horses co-star Jack Lowden a 'very, very good actor' as he leads the Bond race

Jack Lowden, the bookies' favourite to succeed Daniel Craig as James Bond, told British GQ that co-star Gary Oldman had declared in September that Amazon MGM had already chosen their 007.

Jack Lowden, 36, refused to fuel speculation about playing James Bond, telling GQ that Bond rumours are "flung at" any young actor "in a suit", while Kristin Scott Thomas weighed in on his prospects from their Slow Horses set.

Screen tests are said to have narrowed the field to Lowden, Callum Turner, Josh O'Connor and one unknown fourth actor.

Gary Oldman sparked a frenzy in September by saying the role had been filled and his "fingers are crossed for Jack", before later claiming he had simply heard a rumour.

Denis Villeneuve is set to direct the next Bond film from a script by Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight, with Amazon MGM Studios expected to announce the new 007 before the year ends.
