'Border czar' Tom Homan says Ilhan Omar could be stripped of US citizenship and deported if fraud is proven
Tom Homan said on Saturday: 'I've been told they have a strong case.' Investigators are examining claims that Ilhan Omar or her father lied about her birth year on immigration papers after the family fled Somalia in the late 1990s. Federal agents searched her Washington home on 12 October and seized phones and notebooks. Omar has not been charged and calls the probe a political attack.
A Justice Department filing named the congresswoman 'Ilhan Nur Said Elmi', her ex-husband's surname.
Omar insists her real name is 'Ilhan Abdullahi Omar' and denies her ex-husband is her brother.
Republican Randy Fine vowed to 'demand expulsion immediately' if wrongdoing is proven.
