Boy, 10, is left in a critical condition and four others are hurt in a three-car Scottish Borders crash

A 10-year-old boy was a passenger in a Seat Leon that struck an Audi Q5 and a Jaguar F Pace on the A701 between Broughton and Blyth Bridge at around 12.15pm on Friday. The male drivers of the Seat and the Jaguar sustained serious injuries. A teenage boy from the Seat and a woman from the Audi were hospitalised. The road remained closed for roughly seven hours before reopening at 7.10pm.

Sergeant Grant Hastie called on anyone who saw the vehicles prior to the collision to get in touch.

Motorists in the area are being asked to review their dash-cam footage for relevant material.

Police have released no details of any injuries to the Audi's driver.
