Boy, 13, stabbed in Taco Bell toilets after '25 youths ran in with knives' at Rochdale restaurant

A gang of roughly 25 youths forced their way into a Taco Bell in Rochdale on Saturday evening, overwhelming a crew member who had been stationed at the door before stabbing a 13-year-old boy in the restaurant's toilets. Fellow diner David Lane, there with his wife and children, used napkins to apply pressure to the wound, saying: 'If it wasn't for my actions, I think he would have died.' The boy was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries, and police have since arrested two teenage boys on suspicion of assault and possession of a bladed article.

Minutes before the mob broke in, Lane had urged staff to lock the door, but the warning went unheeded.

The Taco Bell on Riverside Walk remains closed while Greater Manchester Police and crime scene investigators continue their inquiries.

Lane noted that his own son had been using the toilet moments earlier, narrowly avoiding the attack.
