A 13-year-old boy was attacked in the toilets of a Taco Bell restaurant on Riverside Walk, Rochdale, on Saturday evening after a mob of around 25 youths allegedly pushed past a door guard and swarmed inside armed with knives. Diner David Lane grabbed napkins and pressed them against the boy's wound, later saying: 'If it wasn't for my actions, I think he would have died.' Police have since arrested two teenage boys on suspicion of assault and possession of a bladed article. The Taco Bell remains shut as Greater Manchester Police continue their inquiries.

Lane had already asked staff to lock the doors at 5.50pm after an earlier group of teens began fighting inside.

His own son was in the same toilet moments before the mob forced their way in and carried out the attack.

'My children shouldn't have to see that,' Lane said, describing the scene as 'horrific' as an air ambulance landed nearby.
