Boy, 16, and man, 80, are killed in a plane crash near Scottish beauty spot 20 minutes after leaving Glasgow Airport
The Piper Tomahawk II took off from Glasgow Airport at 16:17 on Friday and stopped transmitting at 16:37, a few miles north-east of Drymen in Stirling. Emergency services reached the scene at about 4.45pm, where both were pronounced dead. Their next of kin have been told. An Air Accidents Investigation Branch team has travelled to the site to gather evidence.
The plane had earlier flown from Cumbernauld Airport and on a two-hour trip to Newport on Tay.
Temporary airspace restrictions, including on drones, are in place around Drymen.
Glasgow Airport boss Gavin Birch-Williams called it 'a deeply tragic event'.
