Boy, 16, is killed and teen passenger seriously hurt in Birmingham crash as driver, 19, is arrested at scene

The group were travelling in a Seat Ibiza believed to have hit railings on Shaftmoor Lane in Acocks Green at around 8.30pm on Saturday. The 19-year-old driver faces suspicion of causing death and serious injury by dangerous driving, as well as failing to provide a breath specimen. Paramedics were unable to save the 16-year-old, who died at the scene.

The other teenage passenger in the car sustained a serious arm injury.

The 19-year-old is still being held for questioning by police.

West Midlands Police crash investigators are appealing for dashcam footage, quoting log 4403 of October 17.
