A boy riding as a front-seat passenger in a Nissan Juke died after the car, which an unmarked police vehicle had briefly chased, collided with an Audi just after 4am on Sunday. He was pronounced dead at the scene on the A37 Wells Road, at its junction with Airport Road and Wootton Park. A 17-year-old was subsequently arrested at a residential address on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. Avon and Somerset Police has been referred to the police watchdog.

Two teenagers from the Nissan and the Audi's driver were taken to hospital.

The IOPC says it will decide whether a full investigation into police conduct is needed.

The 17-year-old was treated in hospital, then released and is now in police custody.
