Woman drives pickup through Kansas youth soccer game with her children inside, killing a boy, 6, and a man, 35
A 34-year-old woman has been taken into police custody after her truck tore across a field at Stryker Sports Complex in Wichita at around 3:25pm on Saturday, killing a 6-year-old boy and a 35-year-old man. A further ten people were hospitalised, among them five children, with ages across the victims ranging from five to 68. Police noted that one of her children had been playing on a different field at the complex. Capt Aaron Moses said officers have not yet determined how or why the incident happened.
Police Chief Joe Sullivan said bystanders 'sprang into action' before paramedics arrived.
The truck reportedly came to a stop 100 to 200 yards down the fields after striking multiple people.
Wichita Police Department declared a 'mass casualty incident' and is appealing for any video footage.
