Brazilian university rector was killed when strong winds blew roofing off Frank Lloyd Wright's Taliesin West home in Arizona

Rogério Renato Mateucci, 55, was struck in the head by the flying metal during a Friday afternoon walking tour in Scottsdale and died instantly. Gusts reached 32 mph at the time. Police are treating it as a weather-related accident, and foul play is not suspected. The Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation has shut the site until further notice, and his body is still to be repatriated to Brazil.

Mateucci had led the Pontifical Catholic University of Paraná since 2022.

His university said: 'Life is not taken from us, but transformed.'
