Brewer Heineken warns British pubs to push half-pints as weight-loss drugs threaten the traditional multi-pint session

Brewer Heineken warns British pubs to push half-pints as weight-loss drugs threaten the traditional multi-pint session

The world's second-largest brewer says GLP-1 jabs like Ozempic and Wegovy suppress the urge to drink, causing 'fullness and fewer serves'. A presentation sent to UK venues this month warns of falling visits and spending. It urges landlords to promote low- and no-alcohol drinks and pair pints with small plates. Beer generated close to £14 billion across British pubs, bars and restaurants last year.

JPMorgan research puts the number of Americans who took weight-loss medication last year at around 10 million.

Heineken says it will 'continue to monitor how these behaviours evolve in 2027'.

Diageo, the maker of Guinness, has told investors any GLP-1 hit should be 'manageable'.
