Mohamed Mohamoud, a 22-year-old Bristol security guard, has been jailed for 12 years after flying from Heathrow to Somalia hoping to join Daesh. On Telegram he begged for help reaching the 'Mujahedeen' and said his goal was to become a 'martyr'. His phone was stuffed with Daesh executions and beheadings.

Wright said Mohamoud was radicalised through material he accessed online and via social media.

Sentence breaks down as 12 years behind bars followed by four years on licence.

'The public can be reassured that a dangerous individual has been held accountable,' Wright said.
