'Britain's loneliest dog' Sadie finally finds a forever home after 1,000 days in RSPCA kennels

Collie cross Sadie, rescued from a Cornwall property where she was living in outdoor compounds with 200 other dogs, has been adopted after more than 1,000 days in RSPCA kennels. Staff posted a daily video on social media in a bid to find her a home, and on day 83 Mabel Edge from Westward Ho! in Devon saw a clip and could not stop watching. Edge and her partner visited Sadie four times before taking her home in a campervan, where she settled into the footwell and never looked back.

Sadie's previous owner was jailed and received a lifetime prohibition on keeping dogs.

Edge said Sadie's difficult past meant they expected the worst, but 'she was just so sweet' from the start.

The RSPCA warned that rising multi-animal hoarding cases are placing 'unprecedented pressure' on its resources.
