'Britain's loneliest dog' Sadie finds a forever home after 1,000 days in kennels and a daily video campaign

Collie cross Sadie, rescued from a Cornwall property where she was living among 200 other dogs in outdoor compounds, has finally been adopted after nearly three years in RSPCA kennels. Mabel Edge from Westward Ho! in Devon spotted one of the daily social media videos the RSPCA posted to find Sadie a home, and visited her four times before taking her away in a campervan. The previous owner was jailed and banned from keeping dogs for life.

Sadie was cleared for adoption but still had no takers after 1,000 days, prompting staff to call her 'Britain's loneliest dog.'

Edge said that on the journey home Sadie sat in the footwell rather than her bed, and 'from that moment it was like she'd been in our lives forever.'

The RSPCA warned that rising multi-animal hoarding cases are placing 'unprecedented pressure' on its resources.
