British air stewardess held WITHOUT CHARGE for 18 months in Sri Lanka is moved from jail where riots killed 30

Charlotte May Lee, 22, from Coulsdon, south London, insists she had 'no idea' about £1.2million of synthetic cannabis allegedly found in her luggage at Colombo airport. The ex-TUI employee has been moved from Negombo prison to Kuliyapitiya over fears for her safety. A two-day gang riot at Negombo in July killed 30 people — ten prison officials and 20 inmates among them. She faces up to 25 years if convicted.

She is reportedly alone in a foreign country and the situation is said to be very frightening.

Negombo was built for 650 inmates but held around 2,400 when the violence erupted.

Lee is reportedly learning the local language and is desperate to get home.
