British-German startup Hypersonica raises €100m to build hypersonic missiles for Europe that 'could strike deep inside Russia'

Hypersonica's CEO Philipp Kerth confirmed the Anglo-German firm has closed a €100m Series B round backed by Lightspeed and General Catalyst, positioning it to deliver deep-strike missiles with a range exceeding 2,000 kilometres. The fundraise arrives as Washington presses Europe to shoulder more of its own defence burden. Kerth stated the debate over whether Europe needs such deterrence is now settled.

The missiles include a hypersonic glide vehicle — a warhead travelling over five times the speed of sound on an unpredictable path that makes interception extremely difficult.

Hypersonica sits inside a formal Anglo-German co-operation agreement, with London and Berlin jointly targeting an advanced cruise missile alongside the hypersonic system.

The funding comes as Russian warships operate around UK waters and MPs warn of critical flaws in Britain's High North military posture.
