British mother who held her son above water as she drowned in the Bahamas was on a 10th anniversary trip

Nathan Gregory, who described wife Leanne Gregory as "a hero in life and in death," said he screamed for help as she fought through waves to keep their youngest son above water.
Nathan Gregory, who described wife Leanne Gregory as "a hero in life and in death," said he screamed for help as she fought through waves to keep their youngest son above water.

Nathan Gregory says he 'screamed with all my heart' for a passing boat after a riptide dragged sons Scott and Leo out to sea off Bimini on Tuesday. Leanne Gregory, 36, fought through the waves to reach the younger boy and kept hold of him until help arrived. She was pulled out unresponsive and later pronounced dead in hospital. The couple, from Stapleford, Nottinghamshire, had been together since they were 14.

The family were just 48 hours into the holiday, which marked their December anniversary.

Nathan said the whole ordeal was over in less than 10 minutes.

'We had our whole lives ahead of us and it has all been taken away.'
