Police release CCTV of woman who repeatedly assaulted sleeping man on Manchester to Peterborough train

British Transport Police have released CCTV images of a man suspected of repeatedly sexually assaulting a woman as she slept on a train from Manchester Piccadilly to Peterborough on 11 September. The victim woke during the attack, pushed her attacker away and moved to another carriage, but the man disappeared after leaving the train at Peterborough station. Investigators urge anyone who recognises him to text 61016 or call 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 552 of 13 September.
A separate witness appeal has been launched after a woman sexually assaulted a man on a ScotRail service from Dalmuir to Larkhall on 3 October.
The Scotsman notes the ScotRail incident is 'highly unusual' — the female suspect is not currently being sought by police.
Sexual offences on Scotland's rail network rose 30 per cent in the April-to-June quarter, with the clear-up rate falling 11 percentage points year-on-year.
