Yaw Boahene, 57, was pulled backward and fell between the cars of an A train at Brooklyn's Utica Avenue station on Monday evening as the doors closed on his bag while he was exiting. He landed on the tracks and was pronounced dead at the scene. Police suspect no criminality and are investigating how the bag became trapped before the train departed.
Boahene was exiting the A train at Bedford-Stuyvesant's Utica Avenue station shortly before 6 p.m. when the doors shut on his bag.
The moving train dragged him backward, sending him falling between the carriages and onto the tracks below.
Investigators believe the incident was accidental and are probing exactly what occurred before the train left the platform.
