Buckingham Palace is dragged into the Thomas Markle allegations row as the Met reviews how it handled a 2019 letter

Buckingham Palace was almost certainly informed about a 2019 letter accusing Thomas Markle of paedophilia — allegations he denies. Scotland Yard gave Harry and Meghan a copy of the letter 'for their awareness' but acknowledges that overseas law-enforcement agencies who might have prevented further abuse were never notified of the claims. The Met's review is now probing why those agencies were never alerted — and who decided to keep the Palace in the dark.

Meghan's mother Roslyn Loveless wrote the letter; the Met reportedly misplaced it and had to ask Meghan for a copy, which she had kept.

Royals have been warned not to intervene in the scandal, with experts saying the Palace was 'blindsided' by the disturbing claims.

It is argued that 'it was the police's duty to make the Palace aware of the claims, and they will have done so' — raising the question of who then buried it.
