Bulgarians vote for a president after Black Sea drone strikes, with a frontrunner who opposes military aid to Ukraine

President Iliana Iotova, 62, who wants dialogue with Moscow, is the poll leader and has campaigned as a 'president of peace'. Her main rival is Andrey Gyurov, a banker and former caretaker prime minister backed by the pro-Western opposition. Four ships were struck off Bulgaria's coast this month, leaving 21 people missing. If Iotova wins the November 1 runoff, she will be the first woman elected to the post.

An Iotova win would boost PM Rumen Radev, who also wants talks with Moscow.
