Burned bodies found in Haiti are suspected to be four missing Salvadoran soldiers, but Bukele insists 'they are not our men'

Nayib Bukele says the remains handed to his military team at Haiti's airport include a child and a man far taller than any of his air technicians. A third body wore a uniform unlike Salvadoran kit, and identity cards from other countries were also found. The four men vanished on 18 October after leaping from a burning armoured vehicle ambushed near Port-au-Prince. Bukele has warned of a severe military response unless they come home alive.

Hundreds of Salvadoran special forces have flown into Haiti to hunt for the four.

Scott Reece's aid group, Hero Client Rescue, collected the remains and handed them over.

Local media have linked the ambush to the gangs Chen Mechan and 400 Mawozo.
